4-Day International Summer School on EU Better Regulation “Get yourself started for 2024-2029: how to work with evidence-based decision-making in the EU?”

For the first time in the Western Balkans- EU Better Regulation International Summer School, ‘Get yourself started for 2024-2029: how to work with evidence-based decision-making in the EU?’

27-30 August 2024, Tirana, Albania

On the week of 27-30 August 2024, we organized our third event, the EU Better Regulation International Summer School, in Tirana, Albania– the first event of its kind in the region.

Themed ‘Get yourself started for 2024-2029: how to work with evidence-based decision-making in the EU?’, this program was expertly led by our outstanding trainers, Mr. Erik Akse (EU Better Regulation expert & the Founder of the IAI) and Mr. Joost Mulder (European Affairs expert) based in Brussels.

The sessions focused on advancing Better Regulation, evidence-based policy-making within the European Union, with a particular emphasis on the process of Impact Assessments conducted by the European Commission, as well as how Impact Assessments are taken/ presented to the European Parliament and the European Council during the Ordinary Legislative Procedure.

We were delighted to welcome a diverse group of participants, including public affairs professionals and civil servants from several European countries, such as the Netherlands, Italy, and the Czech Republic, including several based in Brussels. Additionally, participants from the Western Balkans, such as Kosovo and Albania, were part of this program, exchanging ideas and their valuable perspectives.

For us at IAI, was a truly rewarding experience to engage with such a dynamic, national and international group, where rich exchanges of ideas, knowledge and experiences took place druing every session. The Summer School also featured two social events: a cultural guided city tour and a group dinner, promoting cultural exchange among participants.

At the end of the 4-day training, on 30 August 2024, we had the pleasure of presenting the Certificate of Completion to our enthusiastic participants, acknowledging their active involvement and significant contributions throughout the program.
